Dear Parents and Carers,
Year 2 Trip to Warwick CastleOur Year 2 children had a fantastic day at Warwick Castle this week, enjoying a memorable trip packed with exciting experiences. They climbed the castle tower, taking in the spectacular views, and were fascinated by the impressive falconry display, where they learned all about the magnificent birds of prey. The children were a credit to the school, showing enthusiasm, curiosity and excellent behaviour throughout the day. Everyone had a wonderful time and made lots of special memories.
Year 3 Trip to (not) Jephson GardensOur Year 3 children certainly had an adventure on their summer trip this week! The plan was to visit Jephson Gardens in Leamington, but unfortunately public transport had other ideas. After reviewing the risk assessment and consulting with senior leaders, the decision was made to head to the Memorial Park instead. The children embraced the change with fantastic maturity and enthusiasm, enjoying the opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife and even fitting in a quick play in the park. We were incredibly proud of the way they conducted themselves on the buses and adapted so positively to the unexpected change of plans. Well done, Year 3!
Transition WeekWe are looking forward to welcoming the children to their new classes during Transition Week next week. This is an exciting opportunity for everyone to get to know their new teachers, teaching assistants, classmates and learning environment ahead of September. All of the staff are looking forward to meeting their new classes and helping the children feel happy, confident and ready for the new academic year. Boring (but important) bit - On Monday, all children should come into school through the usual gates and go to their current classroom, where they will be met by their September class teacher and taken to their new classroom. The only exception is our current Reception children, who should please enter through the main office on Monday morning. At the end of the school day on Monday, children should be collected from their new year group collection point. From Tuesday onwards, children should go directly to their new classroom at the start of the school day and will continue to be collected from their new year group at the end of the day. Makaton Sign of the WeekSign of the week is NOW and NEXT. NOW - Make two flat, open hands facing downwards. Move both hands downwards simultaneously, ending about hip level. Say the word "now" out loud while making the sign NEXT - hold one hand flat, palm facing up or sideways. Make a thumbs-up shape with your other hand, and move it forward in a smooth, circular motion or flip it over in front of the flat hand to represent moving to the next stage.
