Dear Parents and Carers, Dol Y MochOur Year 6 children are off on their exciting residential to Dol y Moch! We know they are going to have an amazing time, challenging themselves, trying new things, building friendships and making memories that they will remember for years to come. We will be sharing regular updates on our Facebook page, and photographs will be added to the school website each evening, so you can see some of the adventures they are getting up to. Please bear with us if updates take a little longer than expected – our first priority is making sure the children are safe, happy and having a wonderful time… and the signal and Wi-Fi at Dol y Moch can be rather slow! We hope you enjoy following their adventures! Aviary Trip to the ParkOur Aviary children had a fantastic adventure to the park this week! As we walked, we focused on road safety, practising how to stay safe near roads, stop and look carefully, and listen to the adults around us. Once we arrived, the children had lots of fun developing their gross motor skills, climbing, balancing and exploring the equipment. It was wonderful to see them having a go, challenging themselves and demonstrating some fantastic safe risk-taking as they climbed higher and tried new things. They were absolutely fantastic and made us very proud! Youth Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA) introduction & Worry Cloud launchThis week in assembly, our children were introduced to our school’s Youth Mental Health First Aiders – Miss Russell, Mr Burns and Miss Joyce. We also launched our brand-new Worry Cloud, which has already been a big hit! The Worry Cloud gives children a simple and safe way to share something that is worrying them by writing it down or drawing a picture and popping it into the cloud. One of our Youth Mental Health First Aiders will then make sure that their worry is listened to, talked about and supported. We want every child to know that their feelings matter and that they never have to face a worry on their own. Reception Phonics MeetingIt was so lovely to see so many parents and carers at our Reception Phonics Parent Meetings this week! The sessions were designed to give families a better understanding of what phonics looks like at Stoke, how we teach children to develop their early reading skills and how you can support your child at home. We hope you found the session useful and came away with a clearer picture of how we are building those important foundations for reading. Thank you for taking the time to join us! AttendanceHUGE congratulations to Year 2! It was a close one this week!
Coming Up Next Week…
Well, that’s all from me this week! Wish me luck as I head off to Wales with our wonderful Year 6 children… and Mr Ascroft! I’m sure we’re going to have an amazing time, make some fantastic memories and come back with plenty of stories to tell! Keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates from our adventures. 🥰 Wish us luck!
