1. Introduction
All education during school hours is free.  We do not charge for any activity undertaken as part of the National Curriculum with the exception of individual or group music tuition.

2. Voluntary Contributions
When organising school trips or visits that enrich the curriculum and educational experience of the children, the school invites parents to contribute to the cost of the trip.  All contributions are voluntary.  If we do not receive sufficient voluntary contributions and the trip is not financially viable, we may cancel a trip.  If a trip goes ahead, it may include children whose parents have not paid any contribution.  We do not treat these children differently from any others.

If a parent wishes their child to take part in a school trip or event, but is unwilling or unable to make a voluntary contribution, we ask them to make an appointment with a member of the Senior Leadership Team to discuss the issue confidentially.  All children are given the opportunity to participate fully in the trip or activity.  Sometimes the school pays additional costs in order to support the visit.

The following is a list of additional activities organised by the school, which require voluntary contributions from parents.  These activities are known as ‘optional extras’.  This list is not exhaustive:

All Educational Visits
Sporting activities which require transport expenses
Residential/Outdoor adventure activities e.g. Dol-y-Moch
Musical events
Additional sporting activities e.g. Basketball sessions

3. Residential Visits
Parents/carers who receive state benefits may be eligible for a reduction or a free place in relation to any residential visits which are organised for their child (e.g. Plas Dol-y-Moch). Any such remissions are granted in line with Local Authority guidelines.

4. Music Tuition
All children study music as part of the normal school curriculum.  We do not charge for this.

There is a charge for individual or group music tuition if this is not part of the National Curriculum.  The peripatetic music teachers teach individual or small group lessons.  We make a charge for these lessons.  This charge is reviewed annually and is based on the charges we incur from Coventry Music. We give parents information about additional music tuition at the start of each academic year.

5. After School Activities run by outside organisations
The school offers additional activities after school.  Qualified coaches/tutors, who are not members of the school staff, run and organise these sessions.  A charge for these sessions is charged at a cost of £2 per session.

6. Breakfast Club
The school is part of the DFE’s Free Breakfast club programme which takes place each day before the start of school for the benefit of pupils and parents. The aim is to provide a nutritional breakfast to promote healthy eating and good attendance thereby improving pupil’s learning and progress. There is no charge for this.

7. Breakages
The school is permitted to ask parents to pay for the cost of replacing a broken window or
defaced, damaged or lost resources where this is the result of a pupil’s behaviour.

8. Childcare
We will charge families for any childcare in our Nursery which is not eligible for government funding, with the level of fees being agreed by the Governing Body. There is no subsidy available for fees.

9. School Meals
No charge will be made for pupils entitled to free school meals or for pupils in KS1 who are
eligible for Universal Infant Free School meals. Parents must apply to the Local Authority for free school meals. School admin staff can assist parents in applying. We will charge all pupils not entitled to free school meals an amount determined by the school.
